From a travel blog to a baby blog...

As newlyweds, we frantically crammed 7 fabulous trips together before popping out babies. So this originated as a travel blog back in 2009....
But now we're trading in the suitcases and passports for strollers and poopy diapers! Yay for the greatest adventure of all: Parenthood!

SPRING is just around the corner

It's funny how my attitude on winter drastically changes in the mere 24 hours between Feb 28th (or Feb 29th, this year!) and March 1. February has cold, dreary, and rather blah associations; March has sunshine, melting snow and the promise that winter is on it's way out! Yahoo!

What a crazy month it's been: a new car, Josh finished up grad school, accepted a pretty cool new job, oh yes... and we had a new baby too! I can't believe Jasmine will be a month old on Sunday!

At ONE MONTH, Jasmine:

  • Weighs around 9 pounds, 3 oz
  • Feeds for about 10-15 minutes every 2.5-3 hours. Glad she's an efficient little nurser :-)
  • Wakes up ~4 times in the night for a diaper change/feed. This takes about 20-30 minutes each time, and then goes back to sleep right away (Mom is VERY grateful that!)
  • Loves tummy time with daddy (while daddy watches zombie movies!)
  • Can lift her head up briefly (though very wobbly), and can turn her head from side to side
  • Enjoys the vibration feature on her basinett & bouncy chair, especially when she has to burp!
  • Is very awake and alert from 9PM - 12AM (argh; we'll work on this!)
  • Has one to three 45-minute alert periods during the daytime...
  • Sneezes probably 15 times a day! Apparently very common, and not likely to do with our kitties.
  • Gets hiccups every 2 days... just like in the womb :)
  • Mom is CERTAIN that she smiles - just little fleeting ones at this point, often after a feeding as she's falling asleep, usually once a day or so.
  • Dislikes being buckled into her carseat and always cries, but quickly falls asleep within a few seconds of the car being driven!
  • Enjoys being pushed around in her stroller and sleeps very well in there, even in the midst of a busy mall!
  • Can sometimes falls asleep on her own (without being held or fed to sleep), with Mom's encouragement (gently stroking her head & singing) - yay! Mom n' Dad will keep working on this.
  • HATES having her arms swaddled and always tries to break free!
  • Makes cute gulping noises when she's feeding quickly ('gulp-ahh, gulp-ahh'), adorable squeaks as she's falling asleep (reminds Mom of a baby elephant), and little 'ehhh' sighs after she sneezes (Dad's favorite)!
  • Is juuuust beginning to make 'ahh ahh' sounds when awake. This is making her Speech Pathologist mummy very excited :-)
Tummy time!

We love you, baby! Can't wait to see what's in store for Month #2!
XOXOX
